A Mighty Long Way
A Mighty Long Way, My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School is the required reading for Spring Semester 2014. The non-fiction story is about one of the 9 African American students that helped to transform public schools in the United States during the civil rights movement. The story not only follows Carlotta, but also demonstrates the sacrifices made by families and communities that sought to end segregation, and promote equality for all.

Assignment
The novel will be handed out Friday, April 4, 2014 and the required assignment is due Friday, May 9, 2014.
Pages 293-296 of the novel have 15 critical thinking questions regarding the story. Students are to choose 8 of the 15 and type a thorough response to each.
Responses must have the following criteria:
· Typed, 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font in Googledocs.
· At least a two paragraph (5-7 sentences each) response to each question.
· Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
· The question the student is answering needs to be written in in full prior to the response.
All assignments must be shared with Mrs. Schramm (either googledocs or printed and handed in) by 3:15pm May 9th.
Each response is worth 7 points. The total assignment is worth 56 points.
